Following the announcement of the agreement reached at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP 15) on climate change in Copenhagen, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) issued the following statement by CEO Denise Bode:
"We congratulate the President for leading the creation of a meaningful global agreement in very difficult circumstances. We hope this agreement, while modest, paves the way for moving comprehensive climate and energy legislation in 2010. America's wind turbine manufacturing industry is currently stalled. While we expect a temporary pickup due to tax incentives to begin soon, a strong Renewable Electricity Standard is essential for robust, long-term job growth.”
