New Report Provides Blueprint for Building Domestic Wind Energy Supply Chain
“Manufacturing Blueprint” from BlueGreen Alliance, AWEA, and USW Says Comprehensive Legislation, Renewable Electricity Standard Required to Create Wind Energy Manufacturing Jobs
WHAT:
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), BlueGreen Alliance, and United Steelworkers (USW) will hold a tele-conference on Monday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. ET to discuss their joint report providing a comprehensive blueprint for domestic wind energy manufacturing in the United States, which includes recommendations to pass comprehensive climate change legislation and a federal
Renewable Electricity Standard of 25 percent by 2025.
USW International President Leo W. Gerard, Sierra Club Executive Chairman Carl Pope, BlueGreen Alliance Executive Director David Foster, and Rob Gramlich, Senior Vice President of Public Policy for AWEA, will discuss the new report Winds of Change: A Manufacturing Blueprint for the Wind Industry and its recommendations for creating clean energy manufacturing jobs across the United States.
The report follows a recent AWEA-USW announcement of their ‘Framework Agreement’ to accelerate the development and deployment of wind energy production in the U.S.
WHEN:
June 28, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. ET
WHERE:
Call-In Information: 800-895-0198
Conference ID: 7WIND
WHY:
AWEA and the USW recently announced a joint ‘Framework Agreement’ to accelerate the development and deployment of wind energy production in the U.S. This new report gives a policy roadmap of how we can create new manufacturing jobs in the U.S. Right now, there are 14,000 additional manufacturing jobs in the pipeline for wind energy, but these and tens of thousands of additional wind energy manufacturing jobs will only come online with policies dedicated to growing the wind manufacturing sector.
Winds of Change: A Manufacturing Blueprint for the Wind Industry provides a comprehensive report on wind manufacturing in the United States and details key policies needed to increase domestic wind manufacturing.
