STATEMENT BY AWEA CEO DENISE BODE ON THE PRESIDENT’S PROPOSED BUDGET
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) today released the following statement by AWEA CEO Denise Bode on the Budget proposed by the President:
“We are very pleased to see this increase in the DOE wind program budget. The announcement shows the President’s commitment to reasserting America’s global leadership in wind energy technology, and in particular a commitment to the new exciting offshore wind energy industry. Offshore wind shows great promise and this federal research support will help develop that technology for broad commercialization. We are also pleased to see that the manufacturing tax credit was expanded, consistent with the President’s recent announcement, along with an extension of bonus depreciation which is a helpful incentive for many technologies. Besides adopting the President’s budget initiatives described above, we also encourage Congress to enact a robust Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) with strong near-term targets for deployment, as it is the single best job creation policy for renewable energy.”
