For the latest information on topics that the AWEA Utility Working Group has identified as the most pressing and critical issues for electric utilities – access these “on demand” webinars:

  • American Wind Wildlife Institute (AWWI) – this webinar covered the AWWI's efforts to create the tools to address mitigating impacts of wind power on wildlife. Abby Arnold, Executive Director of AWWI, presented their unique collaboration between 31 partners from the wind industry, utilities, environmental and science NGOs and state agencies. The webinar featured their main projects, including the Landscape Assessment Tool, The Eagle Mitigation Initiative, support for applied research program and our growing Mitigation plan. It also covered ways in which, as an AWWI Partner, utilities can utilize these tools and the new data available from our research program, to increase predictability and reduce risk associated with the operation and maintenance of utility wind power portfolios. • Wind Integration Update –  this webinar covered the latest information in wind integration studies and state of the art information in this subject.  Here the latest in wind integration studies and real-life experience with integration a variable-output generation source like wind energy.  This webinar features Charlie Smith from UVIG (May, 2012): https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/212654872

  • Wind Power in the Southeast  A special webinar taking place in advance of WINDPOWER 2012 will focus on wind power’s growth in the Southeast. Wind power is no longer a resource for just those electric utilities in the windiest states in the central U.S., as wind projects are now being developed in the Southeast. Wind power has also arrived in the Southeast U.S. Utilities in this region are discovering that wind energy has a cost-effective role in their resource portfolios (April 2012): https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/953851913
