The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) attracted over 275 attendees to its second annual 2-day workshop on Wind Resource and Project Energy Assessment. Where the first workshop focused on current practices in the industry, this year’s workshop addressed how well current practices work, reducing bias and uncertainty in energy estimates and emerging tools in the field. Suitable for the novice and expert alike, the workshop explored these topics in detail, with case studies and in depth discussions of the issues.

Topics to be covered include:

• Overviews of Current Practices
• How Well Have They Done?
• Recent Studies of Wind Speeds in North America
• Identifying and Reducing Wind Measurement Bias and Uncertainty
• Identifying and Reducing Data Analysis Bias and Uncertainty
• Identifying and Reducing Flow Modeling Bias and Uncertainty
• Identifying and Reducing Bias and Uncertainty in Technical Loss Estimates

An Introduction to Wind Energy pre-conference seminar was held the afternoon of Monday, September 17.
