Bonus Clinics: Hands-on Experience with Actual Equipment (Clinics will occur simultaneously; you will need to choose one)
-
Sodar and Lidar Clinic
Organized by: Kathy Moore, Integrated Environmental Data, LLC
This Sodar and Lidar Clinic will first present background information on sodar and
lidar, including theory and practice as they apply to wind resource
assessment. Participants will then observe a sodar in operation and
perform some calibration and test procedures. These procedures will
demonstrate in detail how the sodar works, including operational factors
that affect data quality.
- Met Mast Installation Clinic
Organized by: Barton Merle-Smith, NRG Systems, Inc.
This Met Mast Installation Clinic is designed to give those new to the wind industry, as well as seasoned professionals, a thorough overview of what details need to be considered when sourcing, purchasing, installing and commissioning a meteorological tower system for wind resource measurement.
The clinic will cover defining constraints and give evaluation criteria for all the important components that comprise a complete system. We will discuss tower choices, sensors and mounting booms, data loggers, anchoring systems and much more.
The clinic will start indoors and then, weather permitting, move outdoors for a tower raising demonstration by industry professionals that will illustrate the information learned in class.
