AWEA Wind Energy
Fall Symposium 2008

Symposium Theme: Accelerating Wind Industry Growth Towards 20%

November 19 – 21, 2008
Desert Springs, A JW Marriott Resort and Spa
Palm Desert, CA

Program Chair: Bruce H. Bailey, President / CEO,
AWS Truewind, LLC

The American Wind Energy Association welcomed over 880 wind energy professionals to the 4th annual AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium held November 19 – 21, 2008 at Desert Springs, a JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Palm Desert, California. The AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium provided the perfect opportunity to speak one-on-one with prospective customers, current clients, and industry colleagues in a casual resort setting conducive for business.

The Fall Symposium also provided a unique educational program designed for wind energy professionals working in all facets of the industry who are involved in, or looking to learn more about, the business, policy and technical issues of the wind industry. For those new to the wind industry, a Fundamentals of Wind Energy pre-conference seminar was held on Wednesday afternoon, offering a comprehensive tutorial on the fundamentals of utility-scale wind energy. This tutorial was a perfect primer for the more detailed topics covered during the remainder of the Symposium.

In addition, AWEA offered a first-ever Utilities and Wind Power seminar all day on Wednesday, designed specifically for electric utility attendees to discuss the critical issues facing utilities as they bring more wind power on to their systems. Then on Thursday and Friday, the main Fall Symposium program included in-depth presentations and interactive discussions on the most important issues facing the wind industry, providing insight and topical information.
