The 20% Wind Vision: Key Prerequisites and Climate,
Employment, and Energy Security Benefits
This session will address to key benefits and the most important
prerequisites to achievement of the 20% by 2030 wind vision, featuring the
new AWEA-DOE-NREL-Black and Veatch analysis of a scenario where
20 percent of U.S. electricity is supplied by wind by the year 2030.
Prominent panelists involved in national energy policy will discuss the
importance of these findings and how they might change conventional
mindsets from viewing wind as a niche player to a significant mainstream
option. Panelists will discuss central policy areas where changes are needed
to achieve the visions; and also address the major national benefits on
climate change, energy security and the American economy, and how such benefits may change the political dynamics surrounding wind energy.
Speakers:
Rob Gramlich, Policy Director, American Wind Energy Association
Michael Skelly, Horizon Wind Energy
Paul Bonavia, President, Xcel Energy
