AWEA Lobby Day

March 6, 2008
Alston & Bird LLP
950 F Street
Washington, DC

March 6, 2008 marked the biggest AWEA Lobby Day ever on Capitol Hill. This event provided the wind energy industry with an opportunity to educate Congress about our businesses.

Congress determines the future of the production tax credit (PTC) extension, the creation of a national renewable portfolio standard (RPS) and climate change legislation, transmission accessibility and research and development funding. All of these issues are vitally important to our industry. It is our job to make sure our voices are heard by our elected leaders.

AWEA Lobby Day participants heard from wind energy leadership and key Congressional staffers about the Washington political landscape and how it would affect the industry. Participants also went up to Capitol Hill and visited over 60 Congressional offices, including the offices of key swing votes on the PTC extension.

Lobby Day was such a success that AWEA is currently scheduling another Lobby Day event.
