The AWEA Wind Power Finance & Investment Workshop attracted over 300 attendees in New York City, NY. Our 7th finance workshop focused on the latest financing trends, the market in debt terms and tax equity deals, new uses of swaps and other derivatives, and how developers are responding to the challenge of having to post availability and output guarantees to utilities buying electricity from their projects. This was AWEA's 4th finance workshop in New York City, and it was a detailed look at wind project financing and investment.
Topics covered include:
How the accounting treatment for partnership flip transactions works.
How the market will be affected by the coming controls on carbon emissions in the US power sector.
The view from the IRS of partnership flip structures and issues surrounding production tax credits.
The view from tax counsel on Capitol Hill about new economic substance tests for wind deals that are expected to be enacted this year.
How a national RPS will affect state RPS programs, including forward sales of state renewable energy credits.
Top 10 lists of current issues in deals from counsel and senior finance officers at wind energy companies and equity investors.
Where the financial advisers see the potential for further evolution in deal structures.
10-minute updates of the latest developments in tax, real estate, environmental and regulatory issues in wind deals.
Why Should You Attend AWEA Events?
The revenue generated from AWEA events is put right back into services that promote and advance the wind industry. Examples include promoting favorable policies (such as the PTC and RPS) through work with our government legislators, wind visibility campaigns, communicating and educating America on the benefits of wind energy, addressing environmental concerns, pushing for advanced transmission access for wind, and many others. Unlike other wind events organized by for-profit companies, AWEA puts your dollars to work on advancing the wind energy industry.
