Why Should You Attend AWEA Events?

As the national trade association for the wind industry, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) strives to create and deliver educational events that capture the energy of the rapidly expanding wind market and offer necessary opportunities for organizations to learn and network with fellow wind professionals. The revenue generated from AWEA events is used to advance the wind industry through policy analysis and promotion, to ensure wind industry interests are addressed in renewable energy legislation, to communicate the benefits of wind energy to all. AWEA Wind Power Project Siting Workshop

February 17 - 18, 2010
Denver, CO

With the 2008 record capacity addition of over 8500 megawatts of wind energy in the U.S., proper siting of wind projects is essential to helping wind energy maintain its “good neighbor” reputation. This workshop’s program will address how wind project siting and elements of the human and natural environment interconnect – including aesthetics, stakeholder dynamics and wildlife interactions. Take advantage of this great opportunity to network with other wind energy siting professionals and to learn the latest on important and relevant siting topics.

March

AWEA Wind and Transmission Workshop

March 2 - 3, 2010
Denver, CO

Adequate transmission is necessary to the expansion of wind energy. Learn about the opportunities, potential solutions and challenges the wind industry is facing as we work to overcome the transmission barrier. This workshop will explore ways wind and transmission companies can make more use of existing transmission capacity, work through the logjams in interconnection queues, and expand transmission capacity. It will also examine the roles that the U.S. Congress, FERC and the Department of Energy can play in getting new transmission planned, funded and permitted.

Wind Power on Capitol Hill

March 9 - 10, 2010
Washington, DC

Make your voice heard on Capitol Hill! Political support and legislative action are needed to push the wind energy legislative agenda forward – this is your chance to make a positive difference in Washington.

Wind Power On Capitol Hill is an event that gives you a unique opportunity to work with wind industry leaders and Congressional experts on the most pressing wind industry legislative issues. You will be briefed on the most up-to-date information regarding federal legislative activities on energy policy and then you will visit Capitol Hill to meet with Members of Congress and discuss issues critical to the growth of the wind industry.

April

AWEA Wind Power Finance & Investment Workshop

April 8 - 9, 2010
New York, NY

Be the first to receive the 2009 industry rankings!

The U.S. wind industry brought in a historic year in 2009, installing nearly 10,000 MW of new wind capacity with the help of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). During one of the worst financial crises in recent history, the wind market grew 39% in 2009, bringing new major developers and turbine manufacturers to the market, making the "top ten" rankings an ever-changing list. Join leading experts in the U.S. wind industry at the AWEA Finance & Investment Workshop to hear about new industry players, trends in project finance, pricing in the power market and expectations for 2010 and beyond.

2009 industry rankings, off-take agreements, historic growth trends, manufacturing investments and more will be included in the AWEA 2009 Annual Market Report, launched at the AWEA Finance & Investment on April 8th.
