Data collection on wind energy workers’ safety and health
Beginning in 2011, the AWEA Safety Committee implemented an annual data collection program for injury, illness and fatality data specific to the wind energy industry. A report that includes data on overall industry performance, anonymous company by company data, and data broken down by industry segments, including construction, manufacturing and operations and maintenance, is available only to AWEA members who submit their own data.

All AWEA members may submit data. Please go here to participate. Participation is voluntary and companies remain anonymous.
Data collection aims to benchmark wind energy against other industries
The goal of the data collection is to allow the wind energy industry to benchmark itself against other industries and to allow individual companies to benchmark their performance against their peers. Benchmarking is a critical step toward measuring and ensuring the success of any safety program.
It also helps to identify trends and any areas that made need particular attention by AWEA and member companies in order to improve the industry’s safety record and protect workers.
Data collected is based on the current OSHA 300 log.
